Your Glow Questions Answered
How long does a spray tan last?
Your tan can last up to 10 days with proper care. The key to longevity is good skin prep and maintenance. Hot showers, chlorine, and exfoliation can cause fading, while using a tan extender or mixing lotion with self-tanner can help keep your glow longer.
How should I prep for my tan?
Shower, shave, and exfoliate before your appointment. Avoid lotions, deodorant, or makeup, as they can interfere with the tan. Schedule any waxing, facials, or workouts beforehand, and wear loose, dark clothing to prevent transfer.
What should I wear during my appointment?
Disposable undies are available for women. Men must wear boxers or briefs.
How does spray tanning work?
The tanning solution contains DHA (dihydroxyacetone), a skin-safe ingredient that reacts with the outer layer of your skin to create a sun-kissed glow. Your tan develops over several hours and fades naturally over 7-10 days, just like a real tan.
Is spray tanning safe?
Absolutely! DHA is FDA-approved and a recommended alternative to UV tanning. It doesn't penetrate beyond the outermost layer of skin, making it a safe choice for a sun-kissed look. If you're pregnant or nursing, consult your doctor before booking.
Will the tanning solution affect my hair?
The bronzer may temporarily darken platinum, blonde, or gray hair, but it washes out with your first shower. Complimentary hair caps are available if you're concerned.
How long does a spray tan session take?
The process is quick, taking about 15 minutes or less from start to finish.
What should I expect after my tan?
You may feel a little tacky for the first hour — totally normal! Try to stay dry and avoid touching your skin to prevent smudging. Over the next 2-4 hours, your color will gradually deepen. Pools, hot tubs, and excessive sweating can cause premature fading.
How do I maintain my tan?
- Avoid water, sweating, and skin-to-skin contact for 6-8 hours after your session
- Take quick, lukewarm showers with mild, fragrance-free soap
- Pat your skin dry instead of rubbing with a towel
- Moisturize daily to help your tan fade evenly and last longer
- Apply perfume to your clothes or hair instead of your skin to avoid splotching
